The French judiciary has rejected Bucharest's request to extradite Prince Paul of Romania, who has been sentenced to prison for influence peddling. The Paris Court of Appeal stressed that the Romanian arrest warrant was disproportionate, although it recognized the Romanian authorities' justification. Prince Paul, a descendant of King Charles II, has been implicated in conflicts over the royal inheritance and was convicted in 2020 for damages estimated at €145 million. His lawyer denounced the case as a major political scandal.
