The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that Ford Motor Co is recalling 20,484 hybrid SUVs due to battery problems. The manufacturing defect in the battery can cause an internal short circuit.

The recall affects certain Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair models in model years 2020-2024. The automaker will fix the problem by updating the battery power control module software free of charge and, if necessary, replacing the high-voltage battery pack. Ford has not provided details about any incidents or damages associated with the defect.
