Five anti-fraud inspectors from Bucharest have concluded plea agreements with the DNA, admitting that they took bribes from businessmen to limit tax audits and avoid criminal complaints. During some audits, the inspectors requested sums of money in exchange for favoring control activities, including promises not to file criminal complaints. The penalty for them ranges from 2 to 3 years in prison, with the suspension of the sentence execution, and a ban on holding public office. Additionally, the defendants have agreed to perform unpaid work for the benefit of the community. The case has been sent to the Bucharest Tribunal for trial.
