The LPG tanker Gas Lisbon, flying the Liberian flag, was hit on the night from Monday to Tuesday outside the territorial waters of Romania, causing a fire on board.
The Romanian Naval Authority announced on Wednesday that the fire has not been extinguished, but its intensity has decreased. The ship is located about 23 kilometers from the shore, and authorities have confirmed that there is no risk to the population or tourists. The sailors on board, who were transporting nearly 3,800 tons of propane, were frightened, and three of them were injured and taken to the hospital. The fire was triggered after the ship was hit three times, and authorities are monitoring the situation.
A warning message has been issued for ships in the area, and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations confirmed that the tanker was coming from Alexandria, Egypt, with the destination Port of Reni, Ukraine.
