The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced the expansion of the Sudden Cardiac Death Prevention Program by including two new centers, the Craiova County Emergency Clinical Hospital and the Târgu Mureș County Emergency Clinical Hospital. These hospitals will be part of the national network implementing Priority Actions for the prevention of sudden cardiac death due to arrhythmia, a program funded by the Ministry of Health.
Sudden cardiac death, often caused by malignant arrhythmias, is a major health issue, and the implantation of an internal cardiac defibrillator (ICD) can prevent death among high-risk patients. By expanding the network, patients will have access to specialized procedures in their regions, thus reducing unnecessary transfers and increasing intervention capacity. Rogobete emphasizes the importance of ensuring access to complex procedures tailored to the medical needs of patients.
