The extension of the Neptun concession was decided, according to the AUR senator, under the pressure of the Austrian group OMV, in the context where the legislation required the withdrawal of the license and the sanctioning of the company. The government approved Additional Act no. 7, extending the exploration period until November 9, 2027, after a series of classified additional acts.
In the absence of this extension, the government would have been obliged to withdraw the concession and impose a fine of 20 million euros. AUR emphasizes the suspicions related to OMV's influence, mentioning the meetings of OMV's president, Alfred Stern, with Romanian officials. In response, AUR promises that a government led by the party will declassify all concession contracts to ensure transparency in the management of state resources.
