Due to unfavorable weather conditions, which have led to interruptions in the supply of electricity and impassable roads, students from six educational institutions in the counties of Hunedoara, Mehedinți, and Sălaj will have an extended vacation on January 8 and 9, 2026. The Ministry of Education has announced that teaching activities will be suspended in the following schools: in Hunedoara - General Berthelot Primary School and Răchitova Gymnasium; in Mehedinți - Balta Gymnasium; in Sălaj - No. 1 Marca Gymnasium, Glod Primary School, and the 'Mihai Viteazu' Technological High School in Zalău. Authorities emphasize that information is constantly updated based on the evolution of the situation, and the boards of administration of the affected schools will establish measures to recover the lost hours.
