The European Council summit has been postponed due to bilateral meetings to harmonize positions on the appointment of EU leaders.

European People's Party and Party of European Socialists political negotiators met ahead of the summit to harmonize positions. The four representatives appointed for the negotiations are Donald Tusk, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Olaf Scholz and Pedro Sanchez. The summit is due to decide on the leaders who will run the EU institutions until 2029.
