The European Public Prosecutor's Office, led by Laura Codruța Kovesi, has carried out a wide-ranging investigation in Romania, conducting 307 searches in 15 counties in connection with fraud related to EU funds for beekeeping, with an estimated damage of €1.32 million. The investigation focuses on 388 single payment applications submitted to APIA for the 2023 and 2024 agricultural campaigns, with the suspected use of false documentation to obtain subsidies co-financed by the EU and national budget.
