At the end of the National Energy Command meeting, the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, announced that starting in 2026, the 50 lei voucher intended for vulnerable consumers could be deducted directly from the energy bill. The current mechanism for granting vouchers is active until March 31, and Ivan explained that they are working with distribution and supply operators to simplify the process, so that people with incomes below 2,000 lei will no longer have to travel to obtain assistance. This new formula could protect approximately 2.1 million consumption points, meaning about 3.5 million people. Ivan also emphasized that the current legislation supports this initiative and encouraged Romanians to choose suppliers that offer better energy prices. Approximately four million vulnerable Romanians currently benefit from state assistance for paying energy bills.
