Approximately 300-400 employees of Azomureș will participate tomorrow, March 31, in a rally in front of the Mureș Prefecture, to request the authorities to take over the plant by the state company Romgaz. Emil Almășan, president of the Alternative 2002 Union, stated that the purpose of the protest is to save the Azomureș platform, the largest producer of chemical fertilizers in Romania, which has entered conservation. This situation threatens the jobs of approximately 2,500 employees, of which 865 will be laid off in the first phase. Currently, 620 employees are already on technical unemployment, and collective dismissal procedures are underway. Romgaz has expressed interest in taking over Azomureș, but CEO Răzvan Popescu emphasized that this depends on the financial conditions, considering the high investment costs necessary for revitalizing the company.
