On November 26, DIICOT prosecutors from Pitești, together with police officers from BCCO Pitești, carried out a series of home searches and executed several arrest warrants in a case concerning the establishment of an organized criminal group. This action is part of operation 'Day 'Z' and targets crimes such as material forgery in official documents, computer fraud, use of forgery, and illegal access to a computer system.
The investigation revealed that seven suspects, Romanian and Moldovan citizens, created an organized crime network to obtain large sums of money by falsifying documents, especially identity cards and driving licenses, presenting them as having been issued by the authorities in the Republic of Moldova. In this context, DIICOT has concluded an agreement with the judicial authorities of the Republic of Moldova to establish a joint investigation team, and today searches were also conducted on the territory of Moldova. Hearings are taking place at the DIICOT - Territorial Service Pitești, with the support of gendarmes from the counties of Argeș and Dolj.
