During the inauguration event of Concordia HUB East in Iași, the president of the Concordia Employers' Confederation, Dan Șucu, drew attention to the fact that there are decision-makers who intend to eliminate the flat tax rate of 16%. Dan Șucu emphasized that, according to a study conducted together with the Academy of Economic Studies, the flat tax rate has significantly contributed to the growth of the Romanian economy in the last 20 years and called for a united mobilization of the business environment in defense of this tax regime.
He rejected the arguments that the flat tax rate would generate social disparities, stating that these are not confirmed in reality and that the share of the middle class has increased during this period. In his opinion, maintaining the flat tax rate is crucial for the stability and economic development of Romania, and changes in the tax system could negatively affect the investment climate and fiscal predictability.
