The section for prosecutors within the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) voted unanimously to refer the matter to the Judicial Inspection (IJ) regarding the activity of the chief prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), Marius Voineag, following allegations raised in a press material published by Recorder. He is accused of having claimed control over the cases, which has raised concerns among prosecutors.
CSM also decided to convene general assemblies to consult prosecutors regarding the necessary changes in criminal and procedural legislation. Testimonies from some prosecutors, including Liviu Lascu, former head of the military section at DNA, suggest that Voineag imposed stricter control over the activities of prosecutors, requiring them to report every request made to judges. DNA confirmed the existence of an order given by Voineag, but stated that it has a different meaning than that interpreted by the prosecutors.
