Police in Constanța are investigating a criminal group accused of illegally introducing 8.6 million untaxed cigarettes into the country, through a naval transport disguised as an import of curtains. The container was transported to Bihor County, where four individuals were caught in the act during the transfer of the cigarettes.
Additionally, the group is also involved in obtaining profits from the sale of raw tobacco, using false commercial documents to obtain duty-free clearance for the export of over 15 tons of tobacco leaves to Israel. The police conducted five searches, confiscating large sums of money and electronic devices. The Constanța Tribunal decided to place several suspects under preventive arrest for forming an organized criminal group and smuggling.
