The National Health Insurance House (CNAS) has announced that the PIAS information platform will be replaced with a modern digital system by 2026. Until then, PIAS will remain functional to ensure the continuity of medical services and the issuance of prescriptions. The new system will benefit from a modern IT architecture, based on current technologies, and will allow extensive connectivity with other health data bases, being financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Program (PNRR).

The president of CNAS, university conf. dr. Horațiu-Remus Moldovan, emphasized that PIAS, launched almost two decades ago, can no longer meet current demands. A performance audit conducted by the Court of Accounts supported the need for modernizing the platform. The new platform will enhance CNAS's capacity to manage digital infrastructure, having a direct impact on the over 18 million beneficiaries of the public health system and on healthcare service providers.
