The College of Physicians in Romania (CMR) announced that it received a complaint regarding the statements of an obstetrician-gynecologist, who claimed that a pregnancy conceived during fasting could cause problems during pregnancy or after birth. CMR firmly distanced itself from these statements, emphasizing that unfounded information does not have a solid scientific basis.
The president of CMR, Prof. Univ. Dr. Cătălina Poiană, warned doctors about their professional responsibility in public communication, mentioning that each message can influence patients' decisions and trust in the healthcare system. CMR has forwarded the case to the College of Physicians in Iași for investigation, where the doctor is registered, without disclosing their name. The institution will take disciplinary measures if violations of ethical norms are found.
