The organization "Save the Children" reported that 31.8% of Romanian children under 16 are affected by material deprivation, a percentage more than twice the European Union average (13.6%). The age group 10-15 years is the most affected, and nearly 47% of affected children do not participate in school events or trips. Identified causes include insufficient investment in children, lack of data and monitoring, as well as lack of predictability of funding.

The organization calls on authorities to adopt systemic measures and increase public allocations for education, health, and social protection. Additionally, a multiannual plan is needed to address child poverty, which should integrate social and educational policies. Poverty severely affects children's access to education, and 58% of families with children in the organization's programs cannot cover educational expenses without external support. "Save the Children" emphasizes the importance of integrated community services and partnerships with civil society organizations to support vulnerable children.
