Orthopedic doctor from Elias Hospital, accused of performing private surgical interventions during working hours

The Ministry of Health has initiated checks on an orthopedic doctor who, although employed at the state hospital Elias, was performing surgical interventions in a private unit without a signed and registered leave request at human resources. The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, found that the doctor's request was not valid, and he should have been at work.

Doctors working in the public and private systems will be checked at the national level, and the ministry intends to change the legislation to allow the termination of employment contracts in such cases. Additionally, it is proposed to introduce performance criteria to limit the activity of doctors in private during state working hours. The orthopedic doctor claims that he left legally, but the hospital confirmed that the request was not approved.
