General Dan-Paul Iamandi, who has been at the helm of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) since 2018, has been replaced by an order signed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Cătălin Predoiu, and has been transferred to a directorate within the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU). In his place, the current first deputy, General Constantin Florea, has been appointed to lead IGSU.

"I became aware of this decision during the day yesterday. I was not informed of the reasons. At the moment, I do not wish to make any further comments," General Dan Iamandi stated for HotNews.

This decision was made following the inspections of the Control Body, ordered after the explosion in Rahova. Iamandi has been transferred to the General Directorate for Civil Protection, under the leadership of Raed Arafat.

Although he has closely collaborated with Arafat in managing crises in recent years, HotNews writes, the relationship between the two has deteriorated, especially in the context of discussions regarding the reorganization of the emergency system, and Iamandi's removal from the top of IGSU is said to have been desired now even by the head of DSU.

Iamandi criticized the idea of merging county inspectorates, arguing that it could affect response times in critical situations. The Control Body evaluated the management of IGSU over the last two years, and the conclusions of the report have not been published, but sources from the Ministry of Internal Affairs suggest that Iamandi's transfer was determined by identified managerial issues. In his place, General Constantin Florea has been appointed.
