CFR Călători will implement new fares for train tickets starting December 14, along with the update of the Train Schedule. The fares will be adjusted by 9.88%, according to the inflation rate, as stipulated by the legislation. The last fare change occurred on December 15, 2024, when tickets were increased by 4.6%. The General Director of CFR Călători, Traian Preoteasa, emphasized that the adjustments are legal and there will be no other increases except those related to inflation. Additionally, this year, tickets were affected by an additional increase due to the rise in VAT from 19% to 21%. According to INS data, rail transport recorded the highest price increases, with a rise of 16.92% compared to last year. Furthermore, the seat reservation fee has been reintroduced for journeys of up to 40 km.
