The Economic and Social Council (CES) did not give its opinion on the emergency ordinance (OUG) that would declare a state of emergency in the fuel crisis, CES president, Sterică Fudulea, stating that the current form of the ordinance does not effectively address the issue of rising gasoline and diesel prices. Without the CES's opinion, the ordinance cannot be adopted.
Fudulea emphasized that the project requires a broader discussion and that there is no clear technical information about the impact on prices. Additionally, the ordinance did not receive the approval of Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacșu and the Ministry of Justice, due to a lack of time for analysis. While the PSD initially supported the ordinance, it now seems to be pushing for a reduction in VAT and excise duties, instead of limiting the commercial markup. The government's project includes measures such as limiting the commercial markup, restricting fuel exports, and reducing the biofuel content in gasoline to lower final prices.
