On Friday, the CCR will analyze the validation of the results of the first round of elections for the Romanian Presidency, held on May 4, 2025, and the request for annulment of the elections filed by Sebastian Popescu, candidate of the New Romania Party. He claims that the elections were influenced by preferential treatment on social networks for certain candidates. The Central Electoral Bureau announced that George Simion obtained 40.96% of the votes and Nicușor Dan 20.99%. The annulment request is considered to be filed late and could be rejected by the CCR.
