Bucharest is severely affected by snowfall, with trams blocked and public transport in collapse. The snow layer has reached nearly 50 cm, and the National Meteorological Administration has issued red alerts for the Capital. STB representatives announce that teams are working to clear the roads and tram lines, but the situation remains critical.
Prefect Andrei Nistor acknowledges that the snow removal plans are outdated and need reevaluation. Although the authorities claim they were not caught off guard, issues with the execution of snow removal contracts persist. In contrast to record tax collections, public services are deficient, leaving frontline employees to fend for themselves.
The circulation of trolleybuses 69 and 61 on Sibiu Street and Iuliu Maniu Boulevard is blocked due to fallen trees on the contact network, while trolleybuses on lines 66 and 85 are not operating on Calea Plevnei due to the snow-covered roadway.
Under a code orange alert for heavy snowfall, the counties of Călărași, Ialomița, Brăila, Tulcea, and Constanța are also affected until Wednesday evening at 11:00 PM, according to the latest warnings from meteorologists.
