Magistrates in Timisoara have detained a military foreman from Bucharest who tried to sell counterfeit 50 euro banknotes. He was caught red-handed while selling notes to an undercover policeman, trying to get 125 lei for each counterfeit note. Following the search, 30 counterfeit €50 and 2 counterfeit €20 banknotes were found. The soldier was placed under house arrest for 30 days and investigators are investigating the origin of the banknotes.
