Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Energy, explained on Digi24 that the price cap on natural gas will expire on April 1, but there should not be any price increases. He mentioned that, following the technical meetings in September, arrangements were made with the market to avoid increases.

Ivan emphasized that work is underway on a protection mechanism for vulnerable consumers, similar to the one existing for electricity. In the case of external increases, for reasons independent of Romania, a gradual removal of the cap over the course of a year will be considered. However, he assured that, based on current data, no price increases for gas are expected. Ivan added that scenarios are being prepared to protect household consumers and companies until 2027, in the face of potential international crises.
