Traian Basescu is demanding the restitution of his ex-presidential allowances and rights, after the CCR declared their withdrawal unconstitutional.

Former President Traian Basescu has asked the Presidential Administration to reinstate his allowance and all his rights as a former president, after the Constitutional Court ruled that the law that stripped him of these benefits because of his collaboration with the Securitate was unconstitutional. Basescu is also asking for an official residence and 75% of the current acting president's current allowance, with an estimated remaining amount of around 1 million lei. The government will discuss a decision on the allocation of real estate for an official residence.
