According to official statistics, in May 2025, the average gross wage fell by 228 lei and the average net wage by 139 lei. The highest net earnings were in IT and crude oil product manufacturing, and the lowest in hotels and clothing. Insurance and oil extraction saw the largest decreases. However, increases were seen in the public sector, especially in education, and compared to May 2024, average net pay rose by 7.6%.
