The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a warning regarding the risk of avalanches in the Carpathians, valid between December 25, 8:00 PM and December 27, 8:00 PM. In the Southern Carpathians, at altitudes over 1,800 meters, recent snowfall has been recorded, with fresh snow accumulations of up to 15 cm, increasing the risk of small avalanches.
In the Eastern Carpathians, the risk is low, with fresh snow of a few centimeters. At altitudes below 1,800 meters, the snow layer is small, and the avalanche risk remains low. The weather will be cold, with light snowfall and wind intensifications, and temperatures will drop to -16 degrees Celsius. In the Western Carpathians, there is no avalanche risk, and the snow layer is minimal. ANM warns about the formation of ice and frost in certain areas.
