An international operation led to the shutdown of a cyber network that used servers in Romania and six other countries to facilitate anonymous cyber attacks.

An online network that provided internet address hiding services for cybercriminals has been dismantled by authorities in several countries, including Romania. The platform, which operated by compromising hundreds of thousands of routers globally, had over 100,000 users and generated revenues of over 5 million euros, paid in cryptocurrencies.

Following an international operation, authorities disabled 20 servers in seven countries and confiscated 34 internet domains. The investigation revealed that approximately 369,000 routers in 163 countries were used without the owners' knowledge to allow users to browse the internet under a different identity. The network's servers were located in countries such as France, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, the USA, and Romania.
