The historic building 'La Mița Biciclista', located on Biserica Amzei street in Bucharest, has decided to stop the architectural lighting of its facade as part of efforts to reduce energy consumption, in the context of the energy alert state in Romania. The building's administrators acknowledge that this symbolic gesture will not solve the problems of the energy system, but they hope it will inspire other institutions to participate in this initiative.

Romania is facing an energy alert due to the extreme drought that has affected the flow of the Danube, thus limiting the capacity of hydroelectric plants. In this context, ARCEN, the association that rehabilitated the building, emphasizes the importance of reducing consumption during the critical evening hours, between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM.

The administrators have implemented additional measures, such as adjusting the air conditioning temperature and turning off standby equipment, aiming for a 15%-20% reduction in consumption. The initiative is a call for other buildings in Bucharest to join this energy-saving campaign. 'La Mița Biciclista' is an emblematic historic monument, built at the beginning of the 20th century, and was reopened to the public after an extensive restoration process, providing a space for cafes and cultural events.
