Many Asian workers employed in Romania leave the country to work in Western Europe, attracted by higher incomes. Even with work visas in Romania, they choose to move to other countries. For example, only 150,000 of the more than 270,000 non-EU workers who received work permits in Romania between 2021 and 2022 were still present at the end of last year.
