The National Authority for Energy Regulation (ANRE) announced on Wednesday the approval of the consumption flexibility service, a mechanism that allows eligible consumers to be compensated for the temporary and voluntary reduction of electricity consumption.

The new mechanism is not exclusively intended for crisis situations, but can be activated at any time, providing consumers the opportunity to leverage consumption flexibility based on their needs.

The president of ANRE, George Niculescu, emphasized that this mechanism transforms consumers from passive participants into active partners of the National Energy System.

Consumption flexibility will be evaluated through auctions organized by Transelectrica, which will select the most advantageous offers. Those who meet the commitments will be compensated according to the results obtained, thus contributing to the balancing of the energy market and reducing costs for consumers.
