The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) has issued a press release clarifying that money transferred between relatives is not subject to taxation, being considered as non-taxable income. At the same time, money received as a result of family events such as weddings or baptisms are also exempt from tax, as long as there is no obligation for taxpayers to declare it. The clarifications come after reports emerged that the taxman is checking money sent between relatives and will apply a 70% tax.
