Romania will be represented at Eurovision 2026 by Alexandra Căpitănescu, the winner of the national selection, with the song 'Choke Me'. The national jury decided that the song, which addresses themes such as self-love and overcoming fears, is the most suitable for the competition that will take place in Vienna between May 12 and 16, 2026.
The national selection was broadcast on TVR and included 12 competitors, of which two were chosen by the public. The jury was made up of artists and professionals from the music industry, including Andreea Bălan and Andrei Tudor. Romania will compete in the second semifinal on May 14, alongside 13 other countries. Points will be awarded by both the jury and the public to determine the ten songs qualified for the final.
