INSP: Romania records a teenage birth rate 8.5 times higher than the European average

The National Institute of Public Health draws attention to the alarming rate of pregnancies among adolescents in Romania, which is 8.5 times higher for girls aged 10-14 and 3.4 times higher for those aged 15-19 compared to the European Union average. In 2024, nearly 10% of births were to mothers under 19, with significant medical and social risks, including low birth weight and long-term economic difficulties.
