On Saturday, a serious accident occurred at the Prater amusement park in Vienna, where the first car of a rollercoaster derailed, injuring five adult passengers. According to a spokesperson for the emergency service, the car involved in the incident dates back to the 1950s.
Among the injured, two 63-year-old women were transported to the hospital, while three other people, who suffered minor injuries, received medical care on site. The accident occurred at an attraction known as the 'dwarf train', and the operator stated that the car was traveling too fast due to an error by the employee on board.
It was also noted that the emergency braking device was not activated, which led to the derailment of the car. The Prater amusement park, famous for its Ferris wheel, is one of the main tourist attractions in Vienna.
