The Minister of Transport, Radu Miruță, announced on Wednesday, in a Facebook post, the first measures taken after the discovery of 21 new trains abandoned at Obor station, which have not been used for passenger transport.
Miruță criticized the poor management of contracts and emphasized the importance of dialogue in solving problems. Following discussions with the Polish manufacturer, representatives of CFR and ARF, it was agreed that the Ministry of Transport would propose an additional act within 7 days, suspending payments for unmet maintenance obligations, to allow the trains to be put into operation.
The manufacturing company will have 4 days to respond to this proposal. Miruță emphasized the need to penalize non-compliance with contracts and criticized the situation of passengers traveling on old and deteriorated trains, while new trains remain unused.
