An investigation by the authorities led to the discovery of 27 suspects in Giurgiu County, accused of fraud and money laundering.

The investigation began after several English citizens filed complaints with the police in the United Kingdom, claiming they were tricked into paying in advance for non-existent sexual services. The suspects were found in possession of large sums of money obtained illegally, and some of them purchased virtual currencies to hide the origin of the funds. The estimated damage so far is 3 million lei, and the acts have been committed since the spring of 2023. The authorities continue to investigate and trace the flow of money.
