Romania is claiming ownership of El Greco's masterpiece 'Saint Sebastian', estimated at 7-9 million dollars, recently withdrawn from Christie's auction. The painting is owned by a company controlled by Dmitry Rybolovlev, a Russian oligarch, who claims he legally owns the work. The trial is taking place in the US, and Romania has hired an international team of lawyers to argue its case. In addition, Prince Paul of Romania has launched a similar action, claiming the painting as heir to Charles I.
