Radu Jude announced that his film 'The Diary of a Chambermaid' has been selected to compete at the 58th edition of the 'Quinzaine des Cinéastes' section at the Cannes International Film Festival, which will take place between May 12-23. The director clarified that the film is not an adaptation of the eponymous novel, but a variation on themes such as emigration and poverty, centered on the life of a young Romanian woman working in Bordeaux.

Jude, who won the Silver Bear at Berlinale last year, aims to bring a unique form to his film. The cast includes actors such as Ana Dumitrașcu and Vincent Macaigne, and the production is made by SBS, co-produced by Avanpost. The film will be released in cinemas in Romania this year, with details about the premiere still to be announced.
