Spanish actor Javier Bardem, American actor Mark Ruffalo, and British director Ken Loach joined a group of signatories on Thursday expressing their concern about the influence of French billionaire Vincent Bolloré (photo) on the film industry, particularly through Canal+. The opinion article, signed by 3,460 industry professionals, denounces "the influence of the far right" in cinema.

This statement has generated a wave of reactions at the Cannes Film Festival, where Canal+ president Maxime Saada announced that he would no longer collaborate with the signatories of the text. Among the new signatories are filmmakers from various countries, including Annemarie Jacir and Aki Kaurismäki, who express their concern about freedom of expression. Actor Alain Chabat highlighted the "double pressure" exerted by Bolloré on those who express their opinions, thus highlighting the tensions in the industry.
