The Chopard House, known for its luxury jewelry, produces the Palme d'Or trophy, awarded at the Cannes Film Festival, with a tradition dating back to 1955. The current shape of the trophy was designed in 1998 by Caroline Scheufele, co-president of the house, who added a symbolic detail: the tip of the palm leaf ends in a heart, representing the love for cinema. The manufacturing process begins with lost wax casting, followed by injecting molten metal into molds. The trophy, made of 118 grams of yellow gold leaf and a rock crystal base, is hand-polished and carefully assembled. Each trophy has a slightly different appearance due to the natural variations of the crystal. Chopard annually provides two trophies to cover any ties. The festival jury of 2026, led by Park Chan-wook, will present the award on May 23. Last year, the Palme d'Or was won by Jafar Panahi's film, 'It Was Just an Accident.'
