Pop singer Britney Spears was arrested in California, being suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). The incident took place in Ventura County, where Spears, at the age of 44, was stopped by local authorities on March 4, around 9:30 PM.

After the arrest, the artist was taken to the police station for booking procedures, being processed around 3:00 AM. Britney was released a few hours later, around 6:00 AM, through the 'cite and release' procedure, which allows for quick release without remaining in custody.

Her case will be reviewed in court on May 4, 2026, but so far her representatives have not publicly commented on the incident. It was also reported that Spears may have deactivated her Instagram account after the news broke.
