Romania's main trade union confederations are meeting to challenge the austerity measures announced by the government, accusing a lack of prior consultation.

Trade unions in Romania meet to draw up a joint plan of action against the government's austerity measures, accusing the authorities of unilateral decisions. They are discussing organizing protests and a possible general strike. Students and pupils have also already started protests against the reduction in the scholarship fund, which affects the number of beneficiaries. The unions are calling for the fiscal measures to be discussed beforehand in a National Tripartite Council.
