Ion Iliescu, former President of Romania, is in a critical condition due to lung cancer, and doctors at the Agrippa Ionescu Hospital are giving him intensive care. In this context, a meeting of the State Funeral Organization Committee, which includes representatives of several institutions, took place at the Cotroceni Palace. The Committee is responsible for coordinating the funeral ceremonies, in accordance with the law, and for working with the former President's family to respect their wishes.
