A bus, which was transporting 44 passengers between the cities of Hyderabad and Bengaluru, was caught in flames near the village of Chinnatekuru, in Kurnool district. Most of the passengers were sleeping at the time of the accident, and some managed to escape through the broken windows, while others were carbonized. The bus driver tried to extinguish the fire, but the flames were too intense.
The incident was investigated by a team of forensic experts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and officials from Andhra Pradesh expressed their condolences. This is the second fatal accident of this type in India in less than two weeks.
