Ma today a powerful explosion occurred in the toilet of Senefelder School in Treuchtlingen, Bavaria, causing panic and the rapid evacuation of nearly 1,200 students. The incident happened around 11 o'clock when the fire alarm went off, and the schoolyard was filled with firefighters, medical teams, and a rescue helicopter. 17 students required medical attention, most of them having difficulty breathing due to the dense smoke.
The police identified the source of the explosion as a firecracker, but it is unclear whether it was legal or a 'Polenböller', an extremely powerful firecracker often used illegally. An investigation is underway to identify the responsible person. Authorities have intensified security measures and launched an appeal for responsibility among parents and young people regarding the use of pyrotechnic materials in the school environment.
