Estonia will open an embassy in the Republic of Moldova, a decision communicated by the Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, to Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi. This initiative underscores the close relations between the two countries and Estonia's support for Moldova's European path. Mihai Popșoi expressed appreciation for this step, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in areas such as e-governance, cybersecurity, and education.
Currently, the Estonian Embassy in Moldova operates in Bucharest. Official diplomatic relations were established in 1992, and Estonia has been a constant supporter of Moldova's candidacy for the European Union, intensifying cooperation following the application for membership in 2022.
