Victoria McCloud, a transsexual former judge, has decided to challenge the British Supreme Court's legal definition of a woman, which refers exclusively to biological women, at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). McCloud, who was born a man and became a woman, claims the decision violates her fundamental rights. Her lawyers accuse the Supreme Court of denying her a fair trial and invalidating her gender identity. The case is notable for being led by a team of transgender lawyers, including the UK's first non-binary lawyer.
